Hold Me Tight® Let Me Go: A Program for Families with Teens

  • Hilton Home2 Suites 250 Delaware Street Leavenworth, KS, 66048 United States (map)

The Hold Me Tight® Let Me Go Workshop is designed to help you and your teen stop the cycle of conflict and change the conflict into secure bonding.  In this workshop, you will:

  • better understand secure family connections - the critical moves that define a relationship between teens and caregivers

  • better understand your own and your family members' emotional responses and needs

  • be able to describe and control negative interactions that create pain and distance

  • be able to share the positive moment of reaching and responding that create secure bonds

The workshop will be presented by Jessica Schroeder, Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist.  Jessica is Certified in Emotionally Focused Therapy, the foundational model of the Hold Me Tight® Program.  Jessica will be assisted by Coulter Somes, Marriage and Family Therapist Intern.

The Hold Me Tight® Let Me Go Program was developed by Drs. Nancy and Paul Aikin and is based on the Hold Me Tight® Program by Dr. Sue Johnson.

Workshop registration includes presentation, materials, lunch on Saturday and snacks both days.  Accommodations are not included.  Registration is for one family (defined as two adults and one adolescent).

Parents/Caregivers will attend on Friday evening (5pm to 8:30pm) to begin to understand the attachment relationship between you and your teen.  Teens will join us on Saturday (9am to 5pm) and we will continue to explore the causes of conflict and how you and your teen can work together to decrease conflict and increase secure bonding.

Workshop will be held at the Home2 Suites by Hilton in historic downtown Leavenworth, Kansas.  Accommodations are available.

Families of all backgrounds, stages of life, faiths and sexual orientation are welcome to join the workshop.
