On September 26, one of the most underrated holidays is celebrated: Love Note Day.

As the name indicates, it includes sending love letters (a little more on the corny side) to your significant other and showing your affection in many different ways.

Whether this means a short and simple note or a long and heartfelt letter, it is always nice to feel like you are appreciated and loved.

Letting your partner know how much you love being with them and the little things that you notice about them can go an extremely long way in a relationship.

The simplest gestures can go the furthest when it comes to relationships.

In this way, you can show your appreciation and desire to continue to be with your partner.

Tips and Examples for Your Note

There are a few key ways to take your simple note of appreciation to the next level love note. The easiest things to say can sometimes be the ones that our partners appreciate the most, because a lot of times, these go unsaid. When we say those small little words of confirmation and appreciation, the other tends to feel better about themselves and the relationship.

  1. Don’t be afraid to be vulnerable with your writing.

The deeper and more emotional you are, the more appreciative your partner will be. We all want others to feel comfortable enough to be able to tell us how they truly feel, and these letters are no different.

Some examples are telling your significant other how certain things that they do make you feel. “When I see your smile, I get butterflies all over again.” These types of affirmations are a reminder that you (or your feelings) are not going away.

  2. Adding a memento or recount of a romantic memory.

This is also a good way to show appreciation and love towards your partner. When we remind each other of why we fell in the first place, all those feelings come rushing back.

For example, something as simple as a photo or souvenir from where you met, an important date, or a special occasion can paint a smile on someone’s face (and keep it plastered there for hours on end). Just remember that sometimes the simplest gestures can make the biggest impact, especially in these cases.

  3. Focus on the positive attributes that you notice the most about your partner.

If this is the route that you plan to go, try to describe the more personality-oriented traits, rather than more physical ones. “I like your b**bs” won’t get you very far when writing a love note.

Instead, try to bring attention to how they act and how they make you feel. There is never anything wrong with complimenting appearance, but when attempting to convey feelings, personality tends to be the one to go with.

  4. End with a heartfelt confession or outward expression of feeling.

Ending with a heartfelt confession or an outward expression of your feelings toward your partner is the go-to way to end this type of note. This can be anything from a reiteration of your love to something that you have noticed that you just never had the opportunity to say.
