Including Family in Treatment Can Increase Success Rates

Success rates increase when spouses are included in treatment of anxiety.png

Many people believe anxiety and depression, to name just a couple of struggles, are best treated in individual therapy.  These types of struggles many consider to be "individual problems".  Well, sorry to be the one to tell you but research is showing that including family members in the treatment of these "individual problems" can actually increase success rates!

Why might this be?  We do not exist in a vacuum.  That is to say we are living in a world being influenced by events, people and other influences.  Guess who influences us more than anyone guessed it...our family.  Of course we would want our family to come to treatment.  Whether or not the anxiety or depression is caused by family, identification of negative patterns and increase of support can contribute to successful outcomes of therapy.

So if you ever need to see a therapist for one of these "individual problems" or any other struggle for that matter, be sure to find out when your family members are available to come with you.  You'll be glad you did!
